Design Task 1::Panel

Jenna: Hello to all of you! Welcome to your very first official panel! That was quite an amazing first runway show, so great job to all five of you. However, it is now time to get serious. By the time this night is over, one of you will be leaving us tonight, leaving four of you for compete for the chance to become the first Modeliste. Now, before that, let's announce our fabulous prizes.

And also, we are pleased to announce that the winner of this competition will also get the cover, a 6 page spread and an interview in the upcoming Elouai Fashion magazine, eL!

Ok, let's begin.

Hejumi (alesch)
I like how you gave us a bit of you, a bit of your culture, cause it really makes the outfit stand out. The sort of translucent qipao thing you got there with your outfit really intrigues me. I overall think you carried out the idea of presenting something original, unique and you, so well done on that. However, I just think you went too far with the hat. I don’t think it fits in the swimwear type of category. It doesn’t look sexy or fashionable; it looks odd and awkward with the outfit. It just distracts me, and I just don’t like it. I just think if you took that out, spiced up your outfit a bit and had your model give a better expression, you could’ve done so much better. Also, your editing got better, so great job on that, but still try to soften up the shading, cause that random shaded portion across your face is quite distracting.

Sally, again you’ve brought something that really stands out. Out of all the designs, this is the one I found the most…professionally done and the most interesting. These strings are just so intriguing! My only negative is that if you take the strings away, there is not much at all. It’s just some white, plain bikini. However, it does show that you do have the ability make a boring outfit interesting just by adding a simple thing.

This is a decent outfit, but I just don’t find anything amazing about this, George. It’s cute, but not necessarily fashionable. I don’t know. Although the bottoms made your outfit different and original, I also feel they broke the overall outfit. The design is not bad, but they just aren’t sexy! They’re look like a pair of short male swim trunks to be honest. From the waist up, the outfit is ok, but I just don’t like those bottoms. However, I do like those shoes!

CC Cinders (midnightlemur)
I'm really proud of you. I see improvement!! There are lots of strengths about this, CC. It look very good, and it’s a definite step up from your first design. The overall design works in my opinion very nicely. It reminds me of Vegas, that partying scenario. Some portions of this design just give off such a “hooker” feel, like all those strings around the front of your chest and that thing around your neck. For some reason, I also don’t think it’s a stand out design, although it is a good one. But overall, you did well this week, so well done.

Alva Cabuhat (alva)
Hmmm…it’s cute I guess. The whole outfit is just so three year old-ish, you know? I just want something more mature, something with sex appeal and interesting designs. I just think with the shape and the pattern it all looks like something very kiddie pool-ish, Alva. Plus, I know that this has nothing to do with your design, but your model’s body is very distracting. Cute, but good enough for runway? I don’t know, Alva. Step it up.

Hejumi, you gave a great design this week. You really showed your skills. However, the hat really turned me off. You need to know what works and what doesn’t. Plus, your editing needs to be cleaner.

Alva, I was disappointed in your design. I know you have more to offer than that. It was too childish, not worthy for a fashion runway. And like Hejumi, you need to be cleaner with your editing.
