This topic hit me after Jade McSorley was unfairly placed third in last nights' Britain's Next Top Model finale all because she was too thin and "wouldn't have the stamina to travel the world". To be honest that's utter bull s*it, she confessed to having an eating disorder which is a hard thing to do anyway but at her lowest she was 6 stone which is the exact weight Twiggy was when she started her career. Now Jade's around 8 stone, I'm 9 stone and I wouldn't class myself at an "unhealthy weight".
Sadly this has all started with thanks to Tyra Banks who was getting just a bit large herself and realised that modelling was over for her. I'm pretty shocked Britain's Next Top Model is taking the same route seen as over here in England thin is in, even male models are very skinny, especially in shops such as TOPMAN. I just thought it was so unfair, she had some gorgeous pictures and her runway was brilliant, yet she didn't even place third.

I don't like BNTM whatsoever, but I did like Jade. I just think eliminating a girl for the reason of "your too skinny" is complete BS, especially when you've dragged her all the way to the point in the competition and you've known about it the entire time. It's like Renee's and Celia's eliminations for looking "too old". Both were very strong models, both made it far and yet they were eliminated for something that was in the judges' face all along. I mean, if a girl doesn't have what you want, why even put her in the competition?
I am supportive of influencing healthier lifestyles, because eating disorders are definitely not good for you and girls should be taught that starving yourself won't get you on the cover of Vogue or anything. I'm ok with plus-sized models, as long as they can model (like Tocarra) and they don't win just because they are plus-sized (whitney) because it does show that beautiful has more range than just being stick skinny and it does give the industry a different, unique side.
But honestly, Jade did not look anorexic, nor did she deserve an elimination. Just a bs way to cause drama by the producers.
PS BNTM needs a larger budget.

Yeah, totally agree with the Tocarra/Whitney part, I do think they should be given a chance if they can model (like Tocarra) but when an amazingly brilliant girl like Anya loses out to someone just because they were plus sized (Whitney) that's beyond unfair. As for Jade she was thin but as you say she didn't look anorexic, it was the whole stamina crap that really annoyed me. If she can do an underwater shoot and produce a gorgeous picture I'm pretty sure she can endure a plane flight overseas I also agree with the whole BNTM being crap, it really is! That's why I watch CNTM, ANTM and AuNTM online because some times it's two years before they air over here in England. BNTM did get a bigger budget this year but to be honest I think most of that was used on the whole semi-final boot camp theme which really wasn't needed.

I have to say seeing some plus size models are healthy they eat a lot so what! The fashion world doesn't know that one third of plus size models occupies it and they are making them more and more famous. Toccara,Whitney,Queen Latifah and more are models who can actually provoke Couture High fashion shots, Sophistication, Edginess, and especially Sexiness but some heads on fashion industries don't give them a chance which they totally need! they are models and as they say modeling has critics but criticized based on there body is a big no for me they should be respected like every human should. Thats just it
