Marissa-By the end of this interview you'll feel like you're my best friend!
EDNTMforum-Haha, hopefully. So let's begin with your elimination...I bet you're pretty annoyed you're not going to Kenya
Marissa-Definitely! The only place I've been out of America is Brazil so I would have loved to have gone to Africa
EDNTMforum-Do you think you should be packing your bags ready to fly?
Marissa-Of course, I quite liked my picture but I'm not bitter. I had been in that position before where as Brenda hadn't so I knew I was going home
EDNTMforum-Speaking of Brenda, you weren't on best terms in the house. Why do you think you fought so much?
Marissa-I've worked for everything I've ever got, she just gets it handed to her on a silver plate and I hated that about her, plus her attitude was so obnoxious!
EDNTMforum-Yes, we have seen that side to her aswell! Who else did you not get along with in the house
Marissa-I was surprised they didn't show it but I was always really distant from Mika. We just never clicked, we never fought but we weren't "friends"
EDNTMforum-WOW! I'm surprised they didn't show that aswell. But moving on you were the oldest in the house, do you think that lowered your chances of winning?
Marissa-Not at all! Age is experience in my opinion. The judges did mention it once or twice but I think I was eliminated on the basis that I wasn't improving enough
EDNTMforum-So would you encourage older women to try out for the second series?
Marissa-Definitely! It's a great experience and look how far I got, I beat out 18 year olds!
EDNTMforum-Well thanks for joining us Marissa, but finally, who do you want to win?
Marissa- Thanks for having me! And I would have to say Lucy, she's sweet and modelesque

Week 7-The girls go to Kenya!

Martina *confessional*-(Singing) We’re going to Kenya, we’re going to Kenya, we’re going to Kenya!

Elina-Who’s got my fake tan!?
Brenda-Forget your fake tan Elina, where going to Kenya...where it’s sunny?
Candice-Is Kenya near Alaska?
Brenda-God, where the hell were you brought up Elina, a farm?
Candice-Yeah! We had cows, donkeys and pigs!
Brenda-...Why are you still here?


Lucy *confessional*-Thank god, a chance to get away from my boyfriend troubles, it’s going to be a fun fresh start in Kenya!

*After a long and tedious airplane ride the girls arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta international airport to be greeted by Julie Helson!*

Julie-Welcome ladies to Nairobi, the green city in the sun! Now Nairobi is known for its exquisite beauty and natural landmarks such as the many game reserves. However, today I want to show you a few of its world famous parks!


Mika *confessional*-So Julie takes us to “Jeevanjee Gardens” which was beyond gorgeous! It had so many different exotic plants and a beautiful lake that filled up the centre.

Julie-I’ve brought you to this gorgeous botanical garden to teach you a little bit about Kenya’s history. This park was donated to the poor people of Nairobi as a resting area, which really shows how different Kenya is to America. We would most likely shun the poor of our country because they’re not providing any economic income, the Kenyan’s help them. So are there any questions before we move on?
Martina-You’re not going to surprise us with a photo shoot are you?
Julie-Haha no! That’s George’s job I’m afraid
Candice-Where will we be staying while we’re in Kenya?
Julie-Well, I was just getting to that Candice!


Brenda *confessional*-Julie took us on this wild goose chase throughout the central business district of Nairobi and my mind was wandering. We could be staying in a five star hotel with a Jacuzzi and casino!

Julie-This ladies is your home...A Kenyan mud hut
Brenda-Say what?

Brenda-This is outrageous! Where am I going to plug my straighteners?
Martina-Oh lighten up Brenda, it’s just a bit of fun
Brenda-You class spending the whole night wrapped in a mosquito net fun Martina?
Martina-Yes it’s an adventure
Brenda-Oh sorry I forgot you were from Henderson where the only thing to do is get drunk with the local hood rats
Martina-If you could see how much of an idiot you sound like now Brenda, that cover girl smirk would be wiped straight off your face

George-Hey girls! This is the first time I’ve seen you since we landed in the stunning Nairobi, how are you finding things?
Lucy-It’s overwhelmingly beautiful!
George-It sure is, and today we’re going to present a bit of that beauty in a photo shoot. So basically the concept is you’re all models who have been walking through the Kenyan forests, where you’ve come across a Kenyan tribe, therefore you turn into a tribes member! It’s up to you whether you’re savage, misunderstood or shy but we’re going to give you some war paint and edgy outfits, so it’ll be fun! Oh and one other thing...it’s going to be a group picture.
Elina-NO WAY


Elina *confessional*-Ok...that was a bit unexpected, it’s bad enough living with these girls but now I’ve got to do a photo shoot with them!

*Confessions after the photo shoot*
Brenda-They expected me to crawl around in the mud!? What are we, animals?
Candice-Wow, it was totally fun doing a photo shoot with all the girls, I loved my outfit and I really posed my butt off!
Elina-We really have to stand out this week and to be honest...I’m not sure I accomplished that.
Lucy-My troubles are behind me and I rocked this shoot. I was down on the floor; jumping in the air I did everything!
Martina-Every time I moved Mika would move! At one point she was practically on top of me!
Mika-I’ve heard the girls speaking saying I shouldn’t have this chance because I want to be a fashion designer but I’m brilliant at modelling so I’ll stick at it!

Candice-You kind of do just want to be a fashion designer though Mika
Mika-I can’t believe you’re actually agreeing with Cruella de Vil!

Mika *confessional*-They’re all skanks! I would be on Project Runway Elouai if I only wanted to become a fashion designer, I hope two of them leave today, that would brighten my day!

George-Welcome ladies to your first judging in KENYA! I hope you’ve settled in nicely to your mud hut, the finest of accommodation I’m sure you’ll agree. This week you had a group photo shoot as tribal warriors and before we see those pictures it’s time to talk about those wonderful prizes! The winner of Make Me A Top Model will receive a fashion spread in ‘EL Magazine’ courtesy of the editor in chief Josh Kebano. And representation with Dreamz Model management! They will also win a campaign with Essence cosmetics! Now on to our wonderful judges, noted fashion photographer ‘Michael Grange’ and The owner of Dreamz Model Management, Miss ‘Julie Helson’. Up first is Brenda:

Brenda-Hello judges!
George-Hi Brenda, shall we take a look at you in the group shot?
Brenda-Go ahead
Julie-Meh...I like the positioning of your face but you look sad and insecure
Michael-It’s just pretty, now this would be great if you were doing an ad for a makeup line but I don’t see tribal at all
George-Unfortunately Brenda, in every picture you were like this, you didn’t offer anything different much like last week

George-Ok Candice, let’s see if you can top that!
Candice-G’day mates!
George-...
Candice-OMG! That’s an English accent isn’t it!?
George-Shall we just see your picture?
Julie-There’s one word to describe this...FIERCE!
George-I love how animalistic it looks, you look like you’re going to pounce any moment but you still have a hint of innocence about you
Michael-You really played the character and showed you don’t have to be angry to be in a tribe. Personally I think you look like the younger daughter who’s in touch with the Earth, I love it!

George-That’s a hard picture to follow but Elina we need to see yours!
Elina-I’m dying of anticipation, show me!
Michael-...you’re just stood there
Julie-I disagree Michael! I think she looks very powerful even if she’s doing a basic pose, I like the tension in the face aswell
George-You do look like the leader of the tribe but I think that’s only because you’re in the centre, I think we’re back to square one with you again Elina

George-Ok, Lucy is next

George-Have we left your troubles in America?
Lucy-Definitely, it will show on my picture!
George-Let’s see it then
Michael-Wow! I love it, you had a very basic costume but your hand looks so elegant and I love the crossing of your legs
George-It’s another amazing shot, and what I loved is your professionalism on set, you weren’t afraid to get down and dirty so well done
Julie-I’m so glad your back on top Lucy, I love your girl next door look but you always bring that high fashion element aswell!

George-Martina can we see your picture next
Martina-Of course George
Julie-Hmmm, I quite like the broken down doll look but this is a bit plain, I expected you to be fierce with your edgy haircut
George-It’s not your best shot Martina...
Martina-It was really hard, especially when I had girls pushing me from side to side
Michael-Group shots are always hard as there’s so many people looking for the light and trying to find the best angle, you just have to work through it.
George-And finally we have Mika
Mika-Hey
Michael-Your legs look really nice in this picture Mika and it’s quite a unique pose!
Julie-Unfortunately what lets you down is the face...there’s just no passion, if I saw this in a portfolio I would definitely glance at the other girls first
George-I disagree Julie! I think her face looks really beautiful.

*After a long deliberation the judges have decided which girl is going back to America*

George-Ok so the judges have deliberated, and it’s time to find out who will be continuing on in this competition. The first name I’m going to call is:

That means in the bottom two we have Brenda and Elina, a position you’ve both been in before. Now Brenda, we saw emotion in your picture but it was sadness, not something you would necessarily expect from a tribes member.
