::Panel Week 5::

Tule: Final 5 guys! But unfortunately tonight we are going to cut that number down to 4. Someone has to go home based on these designs.

Let's review our prizes:
-A 4 page spread in eL Magazine to display your designs
-$500 CDF
-$250 CDF store credits to Keb's Graphix n More
-A chance to become a well-known fashion designer in the CB Fashion Industry

So, for this week, you were asked to design two outfits using at least 4 of the Top 10 Trends of Falls by Seventeen Magazine. You had to design one for females and one for males.

Bootz :: Well I'm liking the ruffled shirt on your female design bootz the colours really pretty! I just wish you hadn't opted for a turtle neck it looks really tacky and ruins the fashionable element of ruffles. It's nice you opted for metal earrings aswell though as that's the two elements needed. Overall I'm not that sold on the design as a whole though, the tights are very “secretary” and the shoes look more summery than your other pieces of clothing. As for the male design I’m digging the neon pink shirt that’s such a hot colour right now especially on men and it works well with your female shirt colour to create a cohesive collection. The corduroy jacket is a little bland but it’s well made so I’ll let you off this time!

Kerimina :: Your female design is looking extremely fierce Kerimina! The structured shoulders really create angles on her body and doubled with skinny jeans creates a very androgynous look. However, I’m not really seeing any other of the required elements which isn’t good. Some simple black statement bangles would have really fitted this design. I’m not impressed with the male design at all I’m afraid, is there any of the required elements in your design? The colour on his shirt is not neon at all and it could (only just) pass for boho what with the funky pattern but that’s about it. His shorts don’t look too well made either...

Liselle :: Your top on your female design is gorgeous Liselle! It may look like something a matron would wear but that’s in fashion at the moment. You’ve incorporated a series of ruffles into it and the little bow is a cute touch. As for your bubble hem skirt I’m less than impressed. It doesn’t work with your shirt (they’re to completely opposite styles) the only thing that saves you is that it’s hot pink which is a neon colour. Your men’s design is much worse I’m afraid. Though the jacket is extremely well tailored and has excellent finishes added to it (such as the faux fur) we didn’t ask for a Burberry-esque jacket, we wanted a leather jacket! Plus you have the menswear pants but what you failed to understand was that they should be perfectly fitted on a man but baggy on a woman.

Nikki :: Straight off the bat Nikki I’m loving your colour choices (especially the pink) they’re very 80’s neon and it really makes your collection look cohesive as you’ve used the same colours for your male and female designs. Your female top though not edgy is perfect for high street shopping and the sneaky addition of ruffles makes it look even better, plus it oddly works quite well with the skirt. I’m also seeing a bit of boho luxe what with the sunglasses and sandals which I like! Your menswear design is very 80’s but I like that as you’re showing that you realise EVERYTHING comes back into fashion. The menswear pants are nicely fitted and as I said before the colour scheme is perfection, well done!

Sykalo :: Sykalo...I’m just not seeing the same spark I saw from you in week one, these designs are falling flat! Firstly, the turquoise in your female design is only just passing for neon but the t-shirt cardigan combo isn’t very fashionable and it just looks bland, this design would have looked so much better with a boho smock top. As for the male design I’m glad you chose corduroy...but everything is corduroy! There’s way too much brown and he looks like an old man...not good. I’m really starting to think you’ve peaked

Bootz :: Couple are matching very well. I really like it. I see male design more high fashion and fall trend than female design. I could see model wear both. I'm happy for you to get improved. I do think you do work hard on this design. Nice job Bootz.

Kerimina :: Match? only that matched is sunglasses but on others I love female design. It much high-fashion and fall trend worthy. It was fierce. Male Design? It was ok but I find it was little too beach-y. I can't see high fashion or fall trend. It was more summer trend than fall trend and much more commercial than high fashion. Only positive for male design is sunglasses and I like it. Much high fashion and fall trend. Great job on female design. But work harder if you stay.

Liselle :: Both are match very well Both are high-fashion and fall trend worthy. But I like female design more than male design. Female design was cute and sweet and I could see every model wear this and Male design was cute and cool and I could see every model wear this. Both are best design this week. I could see you are greatest designer ever on Modeliste. You never had bad design. Awesome job Liselle.

Nikki :: Both are cool Both are match very well. but I like female design more because I found it more fall trend worthy and bit high fashion. I think it was too summer trend and bit too commercial. But both are good. Male design was sexy but was it fall trend? I was doubted it. But good job Nikki.

Sykalo :: Makeup on female was cool. I think others should do it! But on others. I really like male design more than female design. But I like both. Male design was fierce. I like female design but I found it was bit too classic. Both are matched very well. Awesome job Sykalo. I think you work harder.

Bootz :: I see growth in you as a designer and that’s what I like. From day 1 to now, the progress is tremendous. I think the style of this design is very unique. I just love the use of pink in both designs, including the male design. It gives it sort of a rocker/edgy vibe that I am a big fan of. I think the top for the female design is interesting, but I think the skirt and the tights and the shoes bring it down because now it looks like something you’d wear to the office. I love the casual flare of the male design. Overall nice job.

Kerimina :: Hmmm you could’ve done better I’m afraid, Kerimina. Firstly, these outfits don’t go together at all. I mean what is this expensing looking female design doing next to this beach bum? I’m just really confused about that. I mean I see that you were trying to make the male design glamorous, but that Hawaiian t-shirt honestly makes him look like a beach bum. Now this female design, it’s pretty good. There’s a “rich bitch” look to it and it really looks expensive. I do feel the strong shoulders could’ve been constructed better. If you can’t do it right, don’t even try. Also for some reason it just doesn’t pop out to me. I’m just so annoyed at this male design. I have no clue what you were thinking. He looks so absolutely cheap.

Liselle :: Your female design is gorgeous! That skirt is a big thing I like about this design. I absolutely love it. It just has such an interesting shape and color and it really makes the design pop. I think your top has maybe too many ruffles, but overall I like the female design. The male design is interesting. The design of the top is unique from the ones we’ve see so far and has a very expensive look. I just hate how baggy those pants are. They look so freakin’ huge.

Nikki :: When I first looked at these two designs, I immediately noticed the color similarities. Honestly I find that very cheesy. I just feel you matched the colors way too much and it honestly looks like a set of cheesy uniforms, so yeah I hate how the outfits look next to each other. By themselves they are pretty good. There is something very fun about the look of the design. You look a very 70s/80s look and flew with it. I’m a big fan of the female outfit. Seems like everyone is killing the female outfit tonight. I just love the skirt and the shape. I also love those glasses. They give the design a lot of personality. Your male design isn’t bad either. It just doesn’t pop as much for me.

Sykalo :: It’s ok, but it looks so…I don’t know…churchy, like something you’d see people wear as they walk into church. Let’s talk about this female design. I think you chose a gorgeous turquoise. Gorgeous! I love the color choice, but the design itself is very Plain Jane for me, you know something you could put together in Walmart. Your male outfit honestly looks like something my dad pulled out of the back of his closet. It’s just such a boring color. It’s boring!

Tule: The judges will deliberate and when you guys return, I will announce the designer who will be out.

Tule: 5 of you are here, one of you is out leaving the Final 4 to compete in another week of competition for the title of the next Modeliste. This week was tricky because although there were disappointments, every single one of you has proven to be a good, solid designer, and unfortunately someone has to go.

You are consistently called first. What you need to work on is your confidence. You need to believe in yourself more, because what you probably see as modesty is what I see as self-doubt and that will drag you down in this industry. Congratulations Liselle.

Wow, didn't think you'd get called second, ehh? Well this week you proved yourself worthy. Congratulations. Keep improving and you may actually make it to the top.

Sykalo, you've been here before, and here you are again. You are here because your design this week was very bland and boring and the judges feel that you are slipping. We feel that instead of improving, you are slowly getting worst and that the competition is catching up with you.

Kerimina, you started off this competition with a bang, but you have been slowly getting worst and worst with each week. You gave a strong female design, but your male design failed to complement it, showing you lack versatility.

The judges have analyzed your body of work and have voted on who they think should continue. The person with the most votes to stay will stay, the other will be out.

Marcus disagrees with this decision, but Jack and I have faith in you and in my opinion, your designs have been better as a whole when it comes down to quality and the overall look. Congratulations Sykalo. Please step it up.

Kerimina, I'm really sorry. I really wanted to keep you here, but unfortunately it is time for you to go. Thank you for being with us.

::Design Challenge #6::


Underwear and Lingerie

After saying goodbye to Kerimina as she left, the Final 4 entered the design studio to get their next challenge.

Tule: Wow, only 4 of you left and next week is the finale. You really need to step it up if you wish to make it to that point in the competition.

Your design challenge is all about underwear and lingerie. When you think about it at first, that's not a lot of cloth to work with and not a lot of clothing to show. That is why it is difficult to be creative and WOW us with such a task, so if you are able to manage this you will truly show off your creative abilities.

You will, like last week, be designing a female piece and a male piece. They will be going down at the same time, so they need to complement one another, but make sure they don't complement one another TOO much.

::Guidelines::

1. Design TWO pieces of underwear/lingerie; one for men, one for women.

2. You may use any techniques in order to make your designs (straight from the maker, recoloring, drawing, etc), except using parts of real pictures.

3. Send your designs, using any model you choose. It should be on a transparent or a solid-colored background.

4. Note that the two designs will be edited onto the same runway. Therefore, the two designs should go together in some way.

5. The deadline is October 3rd. PM your designs to me.
